This Privacy Policy explains how GOAT Lab ("we," "us," or "the game"), operated by Momentum Apps LLC, handles information when you use the game at playgoatlab.com. It covers the website and the GOAT Lab iOS app. The short version: you can play without an account. Signing in is optional, and is used to put you on the public leaderboards, to save your results across devices, and to play Head-to-Head and friend leagues with other people.
1. Playing without an account
GOAT Lab is free to play with no account required. If you just play, the game runs in your browser and we do not require a login, email, or personal details. Your game progress is stored locally on your device. The one exception is the leaderboard: completing the Daily Challenge posts an anonymous “Guest” entry — an auto-generated name like “Guest 41822” plus your score — to the public leaderboard (see Section 3). This uses an anonymous sign-in that collects no personal information (no email, name, or profile); the guest name is generated at random and can’t be tied to you.
2. Optional sign-in (Google or Apple)
If you choose to Sign in with Google, we use Google Firebase Authentication and collect basic Google account information: your name, email address, and profile photo URL. This is used to identify you for the daily leaderboard and to associate your daily results with your account. Signing in is entirely optional and not required to play.
In the GOAT Lab iOS app you can instead choose Sign in with Apple. It works the same way and is handled by the same Firebase Authentication service. If you use Apple’s Hide My Email option, we only ever receive the private relay address Apple generates for us — not your real email address — and everything in the game works normally with it. Apple may not share your name at all, in which case you simply appear under a default display name you can change.
3. What is public
When you complete the Daily Challenge, your score and a display name are submitted to a public global leaderboard (stored in Google Firebase / Firestore) that is visible to everyone who uses GOAT Lab. If you are signed in, that name is your display name; if you are not signed in, it is an anonymous “Guest #####” name generated at random (you can’t change it, and it isn’t linked to any personal info). We store one entry per day per player (the name, score, the build you submitted, and the date); if you own the GOAT Pass, a 🐐 badge appears next to your name.
The Daily board is not the only public one. Your display name and result are also published to public boards for Career Mode (daily, seasonal, and all-time), XP and rank standings, weekly and seasonal champion boards, and your Head-to-Head win/loss record. The same rule applies throughout: if you complete a mode, its result may appear publicly under your display name.
4. Head-to-Head and friend leagues
Head-to-Head is played against other people, so your display name and completed board are shown to your opponent during and after a match. We store the match itself (both players’ names, picks, scores, and the result) so the game can show a result screen, keep your win/loss record, and rank the weekly board. A finished match also gets a shareable result link — anyone who has that link can open it and view the match — and a challenge link you send may generate a link-preview image containing your display name so it looks right when posted in a chat or on social media.
If you join or create a friend league, the league’s name and the display names and scores of its members are visible to everyone else in that league.
You can request removal of your leaderboard entries, match records, and account data at any time by emailing support@playgoatlab.com, or delete everything yourself as described in Section 12.
5. Push notifications
GOAT Lab can send optional push notifications — for example, that a new Daily is live or that your Head-to-Head opponent has finished their board. These are off unless you turn them on: your browser or device asks for permission first, and nothing is sent unless you allow it.
If you allow them, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging issues a device token — an identifier for that browser or device, not for you personally — and we store it alongside your account so we know where to deliver a notification. We use it only to send GOAT Lab notifications. You can revoke permission at any time in your browser or device settings, and deleting your account removes the stored token.
6. Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool, to understand aggregate traffic (such as page views and referrers). It does not use tracking cookies and does not build advertising profiles of you.
We do not sell your personal information for money. However, if you allow personalized advertising, the ad partners described in Section 7 may receive identifiers and activity data to serve interest-based ads. Under some state privacy laws — including California’s — that can count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out at any time by declining or withdrawing consent in the consent manager on the site, which stops personalized advertising for your device. You may also email support@playgoatlab.com to exercise privacy rights available to you, including access to or deletion of your data.
7. Advertising
GOAT Lab displays ads served by Ezoic, an advertising platform. Ezoic and its demand partners may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve personalized ads based on your interests. When you first visit, a consent banner lets you choose whether to allow personalized advertising. You can change your preferences at any time through the consent manager on the site.
GOAT Pass removes ads. If you own the GOAT Pass, GOAT Lab does not load or display any ad content for your session. The standalone No-Ads unlock does the same thing on its own.
The GOAT Lab iOS app shows no ads at all. No advertising or ad-analytics code is included in the app, for anyone, whether or not they own the Pass — so nothing in this section applies there, and the app does not track you across other apps or websites.
For more information on how Ezoic and its partners use data, see Ezoic's Privacy Policy.
8. Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage for essential, first-party functions: remembering your Daily Challenge progress and streak on your device, and keeping you signed in if you sign in with Google. These are strictly necessary for those features and are never used to track you across other sites. Advertising cookies set by Ezoic and its partners are described in Section 7 above.
9. Hosting and server logs
The game is hosted on Vercel. Like virtually all web hosts, Vercel may automatically log standard technical request data (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security, performance, and abuse prevention. This data is handled by Vercel under its own privacy practices. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
10. Payments (GOAT Pass) and tips
The GOAT Pass is an optional, one-time purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor — we never see or store your full card details. To deliver the Pass to the right account, we receive a purchase confirmation from Stripe (including your purchase email and a transaction/session ID) and store a record on your account that it owns the Pass. Your payment information is handled by Stripe under Stripe's Privacy Policy.
In the iOS app, the same purchases are made through Apple’s In-App Purchase system instead of Stripe, with RevenueCat as the service that tells us a purchase succeeded. Apple handles the payment and we never see your card details or your Apple ID. RevenueCat receives your GOAT Lab account identifier and Apple’s transaction identifier so the purchase can be attached to the right account; we store the same record on your account as above. See Apple’s Privacy Policy and RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy. A Pass bought on the website works in the app, and a Pass bought in the app works on the website — it belongs to your account, not to the device you bought it on.
You may also optionally tip us through our "Support Us" link, processed by a third-party platform (Ko-fi). As with Stripe, we never see or store your full payment details, and any information you provide is governed by Ko-fi's own privacy policy. Both the GOAT Pass and tips are entirely voluntary and are never required to play any part of the game.
11. External links
GOAT Lab may link or redirect to third-party sites (for example, Stripe checkout, Ko-fi, X/Twitter, Discord, or Momentum Apps). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their policies.
12. Deleting your account and your data
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from inside GOAT Lab — on the website and in the iOS app alike. Open your account settings and choose Delete account. You do not need to email us, and there is no waiting period.
Deleting removes your profile, your saved builds, your saved careers, your Daily Challenge history, and your entries on the public daily leaderboards, and then deletes the sign-in account itself. This is permanent and cannot be undone. Note that a GOAT Pass or No-Ads unlock is tied to the account, so deleting the account also gives up access to it — purchases are not transferred to a new account.
If you would rather have us do it, email support@playgoatlab.com and we will delete your account and data for you.
13. Children's privacy
GOAT Lab is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Signing in (which is optional) requires a Google or Apple account, which those companies themselves require users to be old enough to hold. If you believe a child under 13 has signed in or provided personal information, email support@playgoatlab.com and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will be revised accordingly.
